Communications
Communication is the key to success. As a marketing professional, I take pride in having developed strong written and oral communication skills. Without them, leading a cohesive team, creating snappy campaigns and managing up through an organization is simply not possible. Throughout my career, I’ve had great success in building relationships and delivering cohesive messages by studying the art of communication and applying it to everything from face-to-face interactions to comprehensive marketing campaigns.
Internal & External Email Campaigns
Email is one of the most critical communication tools in the modern business environment. Having served as a Corporate Communications Manager, I understand what it takes to craft emails that grab attention, deliver a clear, succinct message and garner employee engagement – Ranging from simple reminders to clear out the refrigerators in the break rooms to critical, multi-message campaigns for open enrollment. Creating and maintaining a detailed communications calendar from scratch is something I’ve done throughout my career.
Newsletters
It’s difficult to truly over-communicate. Creating and managing multiple messaging channels within an organization is critical to disseminating information. I’ve created a multitude of different vehicles for delivering regular departmental and company-wide messages – From monthly newsletters to weekly updates to spontaneous e-blasts.
Executive Writing
When it comes to addressing large groups of people, it helps to prepare your talking points in advance. I’ve worked with multiple executive teams to develop messaging for public speeches, corporate addresses, welcome videos and town hall gatherings. Understanding the intent of the message and applying the personality and voice of the speaker is a critical skill that I’ve used as a ghostwriter, discussion moderator and emcee.
Public Relations
Public relations is all about sending the right messages to the right people at the right time to improve the reputation of your brand. PR messaging walks hand-in-hand with marketing and communications – The voice of the brand is critical to enhance perception in a positive light and create a strong presence, regardless of the scenario (whether it be positive or negative). I’ve spent years as the primary organizational contact for outside agencies including the associated press, parent/sister organizations and industry trade groups.
24/7 Accountability
Modern businesses never sleep. This is especially true in commercial aviation, where emergency events can take place at any time. As Corporate Communications Manager at CommuteAir, I was required to be on call at all hours of the day as part of the emergency response team for any aviation-related incident. Being a critical member of the ER-GO team also meant that I had to be prepared to travel onsite to represent the organization in the event of an emergency.
Press Statements
Writing public statements for the press is a tricky business – Providing accurate, clear context without including unnecessary details is the key to a strong press statement. I’ve written hundreds of aviation-related press statements for a variety of different types of events.
News Updates
Different from a company blog and other communication & social channels, most companies have a method for publicly sharing important changes to their business. These standardized messages use professional language and specific formatting to provide critical updates.
